Nobody should land without a network.

Your SIM stays in the phone. This one goes in beside it and gives you internet on the trip.

Where are you going?

Still deciding? See the full list of destinations

See how it is installed, step by step

  • A closed price in kwanza, with no roaming charge on top
  • Invoice with tax number, issued in Angola
  • Support in Portuguese, from people in Luanda

First time with an eSIM?

Your SIM card never leaves the phone

  • Nothing is taken out

It stays where it is, and the phone carries both. Your number keeps receiving the calls and the bank codes.

  • There is no card to go and collect

An eSIM lives inside the phone. Buy here, get a code and install it at home. No shop and no airport.

  • Nothing starts before the trip

Install it days ahead, calmly. It sits asleep in the phone and only starts when you use the internet abroad.

Does your phone take an eSIM? Type the model just below and we will tell you.

Two lines, two directions of travel

Choose by the direction of your trip

We do not sell the same product in both directions, because the problem is not the same. People landing need data the moment they land, bought before the flight. People leaving need data abroad without losing the bank codes that arrive at home.

ARRIVAL line

For anyone landing in Angola

Data on the phone the moment you land, bought and installed before you board. No hunting for an open shop at eleven at night in Luanda, and no roaming tariff from the operator you flew out with.

See packages for Angola
  • Installed before you board, working the moment you land
  • A closed price in kwanza, with no roaming tariff added on top
  • Bought from Lisbon, São Paulo or wherever you are, with no shop involved
  • Invoice with tax number, issued in Angola, for people travelling on business
  • Validity only starts on the first use of data, and that is guaranteed

What this line does not have: voice minutes. No travel eSIM on the market gives them, and ours does not either. An Angolan line with minutes is the product we want to build with a local operator, and until that is closed we do not advertise it.

Guarantee of the house

The rule that filters the shelf

The clock starts on the first use of data. Always.

Buy today. Install today. Start it in three weeks.

This is not a feature of one plan, it is a rule for the whole shop: we do not put on sale a single package whose validity starts at purchase or at installation. If a supplier only offers it that way, the package does not reach this site.

It matters because of how people actually buy. Somebody in Lisbon buys in August for a September trip home. Somebody in Luanda buys the week before the flight. With any other rule, half the plan is spent before the plane takes off.

  1. You buy

Weeks before the trip, from wherever you are. The code arrives immediately.

  2. You install

On the same day, at home, on a network you trust. The eSIM sits in the phone, asleep. Nothing has started.

  3. It starts

On the first megabyte you spend at the destination. Only then does the clock start counting the days you paid for.

There is a second date we also filter on: the deadline the supplier gives for the profile to be installed. A package with a short window dies unused before the trip arrives, and that one does not reach the shelf either.

Compatibility

Does your phone take an eSIM?

It stops more purchases than any other question. Type the make and model and we answer straight away.

The test that works on any phone

Dial *#06# on the phone keypad, as if making a call. A list of device identifiers appears. If an EID is there — thirty-two digits — the phone accepts eSIM. If only the IMEI shows, it does not.

You do not need to place the call: the code answers as soon as you type it.

The list covers the models most common in Angola, Portugal and Brazil. A model that is not here is not an incompatible model: it is a model we have not confirmed yet.

What if my phone does not take an eSIM?

What sets us apart

Five things you can check before paying

Compared against the public offer of the travel eSIM operators serving Angola. Where we do not win, it says we do not win.

Five things you can check before paying
Criterion AfroChip Ordinary travel eSIM
When the validity starts counting On the first use of data, on every package Depends on the supplier, and it is not always written down
Invoice with tax number Issued in Angola, with the service itemised A foreign receipt, when there is one
Who answers when it goes wrong People in Luanda, in Portuguese, on Luanda time A translated form and an answer days later
Real calls and SMS Some packages include minutes and SMS, and the card says how many Data only. Calls through apps, over the internet
A brand known around the world No. We are a new shop, with an address in Luanda Yes. Years of trading and millions of customers

The last row is the only one we do not win, and it stays in the table anyway. And the calls row deserves its caveat: most of our packages are data only too, and on those the calls are made through apps, over the package data. Where there are real minutes, it is written on the card of the package, with the number.

The Angolan community in Portugal

Land in Luanda with the phone already working

Around 92,000 Angolans live in Portugal, and the number keeps growing. Anyone flying home for a holiday, for family or for a funeral does not want to land at eleven at night in Luanda hunting for an open shop. It gets sorted while you are still in Portugal.

  • Handled in Portuguese, before you board, with no airport scramble
  • Bought in August for a September trip: the clock only starts when you use it
  • A closed price in kwanza, not your Portuguese operator’s roaming tariff
  • Works just as well from Brazil, South Africa or anywhere else
