Frequently asked questions
What people ask before buying
If your question is not here, ask it through support. Anything that comes up twice ends up on this list.
Does my phone accept eSIM?
Most phones from the last few years do. To be sure, type the make and model of yours on the page that checks your phone — it answers straight away. If your model is not on the list we do not guess: we confirm with you before charging you anything.
Do I need an international credit card?
No. The price is in kwanza and you pay here, in Angola, without having to find a card that works on foreign sites. The total you see is the total you pay: we add nothing at the end.
Do I lose my Angolan number if I use AfroChip abroad?
No. Your Angolan SIM stays in the phone, switched on, taking your calls and your bank codes. The AfroChip eSIM only handles the internet, alongside it. What you do have to do is turn off mobile data on your usual line, so your Angolan operator does not charge you for internet abroad — that is what roaming means, and it is the expensive bill many people come home to. We show you where to turn it off in how to install it, step by step.
Can I make calls with this eSIM?
With some packages, yes — and they are few. Almost every travel eSIM, ours and everyone else's, gives you internet only: with those you talk through apps, like WhatsApp. But there are packages in this shop with call minutes and SMS included, marked on the card as "Calls + SMS + Data". Those make and take calls like a normal SIM, they cost more because they are a different product, and they are what to take if you need to reach someone who is not on the internet — a hotel, a driver, a hospital. Your usual SIM stays in the phone taking your own calls.
Should I take the smaller package or the bigger one?
When in doubt, take the bigger one. Running out of internet halfway through a trip costs more than the difference in price: it is the map that will not open in a city you do not know, the car you cannot call, the gate change nobody tells you about. You can buy more while you are out there, but by then you are mid-trip and paying twice. What is left over on the bigger package does not get used, true — and it still bothers you less than having no signal far from home.
When does the validity start counting?
The first time you use the internet at your destination. Not on the day you buy and not on the day you install. This is not a feature of one package, it is a rule of the shop: a package that starts counting at purchase never goes on sale here, even when it comes to us cheaper.
How long does the eSIM take to arrive?
Most arrive within minutes: the installation code goes to your email as soon as the payment is confirmed. The packages with calls and SMS are prepared by hand by someone on the team, they are not immediate, and for those we agree the timing with you before charging you. Either way, install it before you travel: the package clock only starts when you use the internet at your destination.
How much does it cost?
The price is on each package card, on the page for that country: pick the destination and you see the closed amount in kwanza before you pay. Nothing is added at the end and nothing renews automatically. You can see the destinations and the prices without registering anywhere.
What is the difference between a standard package and a "per day" one?
In a standard package the data is one bag for all the days: what you do not spend today is still there tomorrow. In a per-day package there is a portion for each day, and what is left at the end of a day does not move to the next — at midnight it starts again. They can add up to the same total and they are not the same thing, which is why they sit in different tabs on each country page.
And the unlimited plans, are they really unlimited?
They have no limit on quantity, but there are two cases and the page says which is which. Some say how much runs at full speed and what happens after that — usually it slows down — and for those the card shows both, in the words of whoever supplies them. Others say nothing of the sort, and for those we write exactly that: it does not mean there is no limit, it means nobody wrote down what it is.
Do you issue invoices with a tax number?
Yes, and it is one of the reasons companies buy from us. The invoice shows the plan and the activation service on separate lines, so it goes to accounting without raising questions.
Guarantee of the house
The rule that filters the shelf
The clock starts on the first use of data. Always.
Buy today. Install today. Start it in three weeks.
This is not a feature of one plan, it is a rule for the whole shop: we do not put on sale a single package whose validity starts at purchase or at installation. If a supplier only offers it that way, the package does not reach this site.
-
You buy
Weeks before the trip, from wherever you are. The code arrives immediately.
-
You install
On the same day, at home, on a network you trust. The eSIM sits in the phone, asleep. Nothing has started.
-
It starts
On the first megabyte you spend at the destination. Only then does the clock start counting the days you paid for.
There is a second date we also filter on: the deadline the supplier gives for the profile to be installed. A package with a short window dies unused before the trip arrives, and that one does not reach the shelf either.

Need a hand?
The whole purchase happens here on the site, start to finish, with no need to talk to anyone. These two pages answer the questions we get most often.
